As a custom maker we like to offer a variety of materials for projecting mounts. This way you can truly make your bagpipe unique. All of these mounts are threaded on. Our imitation ivory & horn are cast acrylic resins, they are durable and will not change color. Bocote is a hard wood from Mexico, dark brown in color, with fine grain and strong striped coloring. Ceylon Satinwood has been our standard mount for years. It is strong with a fine grain, and gives a rich color contrast with the dark woods used in the bagpipe. Light Cocobolo, again a hard wood from Mexico, more red with broader stripes that the Bocote. The light color will provide contrast to the darker Cocobolo we use for the bagpipes. This is a sample of what we can use for projecting mounts. Many other woods or materials can be used, call with your requests or ideas. Sterling silver mounts are hollow spun and silver soldered in sections, including the threaded inner sleeve. This construction makes them lightweight, but very strong. Elephant Ivory is available for the classic mounted bagpipe. Any of these materials can also be used to make Button shaped mounts. As these would also be threaded on, they will be the same price as the full size projecting mounts.
